It’s great to here you writings again and I hope you are doing well, or at least a bit better. 🥰 Thank you so much for posting the discord link again! I wasn’t able to join before because the old link was dead and I couldn’t find the new one. Maybe you can pin it to your page so other people don’t lose access?

Also I love readings you have done recently, especially mad is a place. It reminded me of a fiction book that I think makes a lot of good perspective. It’s called Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi if anyone is interested.

I am a revolutionary. Answering the call… thank you for your words I got the email notification exactly at the right moment. Spiraling down a hole of loneliness as I reflect on how I’m saying goodbye to people unready to answer the call. But that’s okay bc that is just one small sacrifice I’m willing to make towards Revolution. Joining the discord now

Ismatu, as always, thank you. For being the person in front of the room. This felt a little bit like a farewell note? Sadness/grief(?) creeps up behind me as I already begin to imagine you not being in these spaces. But that’s okay! I will answer the call, as much as I can for as long as I can, because, as much as you don’t want us to remember you, you have been the guide and teacher to: answer the call. You live in my memory (sorry)!

I am a revolutionary... and what that means to me is being a poet but I have to tell you folks, I am *hurting* as a poet! I am hurting as a poet who has very few vehicles with which to share my writing, no professional support/connections, so many poems and no way to publish them for real..... and this sounds like such a selfish little rant to be putting here but I want help! I want TO help (the world)!

If the words matter as much as they do (and they do and they do) how do I move forward if my treasure trove isn't moving with me? is anyone ready to listen?

I’m a revolutionary and to me that means creating theater that brings people together through telling our stories and narratives of ourselves and the world, and honoring them together. I’m hurting as a theater maker in the same ways you mentioned. I feel I have so much to offer to make the world a little better, but few real outlets. I need to speak up more and put myself out there but I’ve been beat down so many times before, sometimes it feels hopeless. I can’t advance if my stories aren’t valued.

Thank you for this, I empathize… I have a couple of acting/theatre making friends and we talk often about trying to make things and share things that matter for the world…. Any art has value in and of itself, but in hard times it can bring more to others. It’s a difficult place to be in, knowing you have something to offer but not knowing how/what to do. Good luck with all the good work my friend

transcription correction:

4:24 We have a very finite amount of time to mobilize around ideas that are for our good, the good of the masses, the good of the people, the world-keepers of tomorrow.

currently says:

4:24 ideas that are for us. We are all the same. Bah, we’re good. The good of the masses. The good of the people. The worldkeepers of tomorrow.

I am a revolutionary. Answering the call 🙏🏾 I believe our space should have an unwavering focus on what interacts with our physical body. To me, this looks like taking responsibility over where our food / medicine comes from. So much easier to hear the whisper of god when the body is in line. If anyone wants seeds shipped please just reach out @WowJuke- obviously, No charge. Nature provides them in abundance and I’m glad to share.

This discussion about the importance of the presence and health of our physical bodies is so important! Revolution will not be made in our minds, we only act through our bodies, right?

We sing in a round. I ... I am... I am a revolutionary. No one voice standing out above the others, but all of our voices inviting others to join the song. Your voice is one that called me in, so I turn around and honor the song you heard by singing it to others. I sing it to my garden, and the seeds that I give away will sing it to other gardeners, to birds that carry the seeds, to fungus that lights up the soil, to insects that eat the bodies of everything. They won't know your name or your face or your voice, or any of mine, but they will carry on the song that you called me into.

I'm not on discord so forgive me if this discussion is already unfolding- but can anyone tell me if there are location-based Ismatu-inspired learning and sharing collectives?
